I have played with freeswan in the past, but ended up not using it due
to limitations of a cisco firewall at the other end of the connection.
ssh became the solution instead.  Freeswan does work fine as far as I
can tell though.

As for ipchains, I gave up on those in favour of iptables a few years
ago.

As for Debian, I won't use anything else.
